What can a Mental Health Counselor provide?
Emotional Wellness
Emotional wellness addresses overall awareness and validation of our feelings in different situations. Being well means building coping skills and resiliency to work through times of uncertainty and emotional reactivity.
Physical Wellness
Physical wellness can be impacted by mental health counseling through learning new strategies and routines to manage stress and taking care of your body. A counselor can help support compliance with other health issues or struggles with dietary/lifestyle changes.
Social Wellness
Social wellness focuses on your ability to connect with others. Meaningful relationships can help build a community that supports you in your journey of life. Social wellness includes healing family relationships that may be hurting or marriages in need of support.
Occupational Wellness
Occupational wellness is an exploration of career and professional choices. This can help build a sense of fulfillment and contribution to your family and community. A counselor can help with identifying your unique talents, interests, and work towards your occupational goals.
Spiritual Wellness
Spiritual wellness includes both faith-based counseling, Christian and Biblical Counseling, alongside tackling the question of "why?" Logotherapy (meaning-based therapy) is one such therapy that explores your place in the world and who you want to become. Christian and Biblical Counseling infuses counseling and scripture to give a biblical perspective on issues and how to solve them.
And More!
A mental health counselor is concerned with the whole person. Other types of wellness may include intellectual, environmental, and financial wellness.
